1st of May

Chicago, 1st of May 1886 Chicago, 1st of May 1886 It is really sad that people forgot the real meaning of the 1st of May. Making it worst, people connect 1st of May with the former Russian regime and similar to the Russian’s regimes forgetting that the first ones to sacrifice their lives for us to have eight hours working days, insurance and a covered health systems were the workers in Chicago back in 1886.

Oddly enough the last few decades, people were demonstrating on 1st of May asking for more rights and solution, better health system, measures for the unemployment, better work conditions, better contracts. Nowadays and in the middle of the financial globalization where the workers are losing everything they fought for the last few years, it seems that nobody bothers to do or say anything.

Does anybody know that this is a day off in memory of these people who died in Chicago at 1886? Is not another bank holiday, another chance to drink all day long!!!
